There is a growing trend internationally in farming and agriculture to promote agritourism, either with farm tours, farmers markets, chef-farmer alliances or educational farm stays. We need a voice to represent the farmers and agriculture state-wide in this growing market and shift in agribusiness.

Agricultural tourism is the intersection of agriculture and tourism, combining education about agricultural products and the direct experience of connecting with the land and growers. Hawai'i AgriTourism enhances the diversity of visitor experiences while increasing regional and cultural identity of working farms and ranches. It also supports the sustainability of local rural
communities and their value added farm products. Examples include farm visits with retail sales, farmers markets, living-history farms, traditional agricultural events, roadside farm stands, farm stays and farmer-chef alliances featuring locally grown foods. HATA is in the process of filing for 501c(3) non-profit status.

Members include: farmers, ranchers, chefs, restaurants, hotels, concierges, transportation companies, local guides, health department, state representatives, legislatures, planning departments and university personnel, community members and friends of agriculture.
